Villa Puri Bayu Description
Puri Bayu is Balinese word for the castle of the wind. This is a perfect name for the villa as it is the estuary of the fresh breeze from the famous Ayung River. Puri Bayu is a dream come true for everyone who loves nature and enjoys tranquillity at its best. The only noise one hears, relaxing in the spacious, open built living room enjoying the breathtaking view, is the consistent rush of the river stream, the singing of the birds and the smooth sound of the floating bamboo leaves. This place indeed nurtures the soul.Puri Bayu is located at native village of Kedewatan, about one hour driving from the international airport. It is definitely hidden at a corner of the village, under green trees with great view to the Ayung river.
Puri Bayu Accommodation
Entering the compound of the villa, the atmosphere of tropical country living is so strong and stunning, the entrance is dominated by many giant teak where birds happily sing and crickets live. Canopied by the leaves of those trees, through a very unique entrance, a hand-carved cave made of paras stone, you are leading to the villa at lower level. What a stunning place you are entering.The villa consists of two buildings: the main house and the guest house. Both buildings are separated by nice garden and unique swimming pool. Looking at the quality, the two buildings are the evidence of a high appreciation given by the owner to the Balinese culture. The organic nature of architectural materials and open verandas blends each pavilion into the site. The design and site planning are classic and timeless. The view from the terrace leads distant 'sawah' fields dotted with banana and coconut trees. Very tastefully, the owners have integrated beautiful accessories which they have collected travelling around the world.
Main House
The main house is a totally genuine Balinese style building with two stairs. Upstairs is the master bedroom with beautifully wooden polished floors. Besides the very specious, open living area, this room is the jewel of the villa. Sliding glass windows on three sides of the room provide a magnificent view of the Ayung River and the rice fields, and with the smooth breeze circulating, it makes one feel like sleeping outside in the nature!
This Master Bedroom features a queen sized bed on a wooden antixe bed with mosquito net. The wardrobe is a magnificent antique cupboard; a hand carved teak wardrobe. It is equipped a 29" TV, Video, Laser disc, and en-suite bathroom. The master bathroom features two small bathtubs-one with hot & cold and the other with only cold. Also features a separate shower recesses, a washbasin (hot & cold water) and vanity recess etc.
The downstairs open-style living room, with stunning views of the river, invites guests to relax and meditate. The various sitting areas (pillows, super big round pillow, mattrass and chairs) are very comfortable and make visitors want to just stay around the house. There is also an excellent stereo system (with C.D. etc) in the living area. In case you can not be away from your work, the corner of this area is also a great place to get inspired for your work.
Adjusted to the living room is the modern kitchen features an open-plan breakfast bar on two sides (6 bar stools), large stove/oven, and large fridge, with loads of storage space; complete with numerous labor saving devices. Next to the kitche there is an additional bathroom with a guest shower. A small dining table stands on a corner next to the path to the guest house.
Guest House
Passing through a pergola on left side of the natural pool, you are leading to the Guest House. It is a Balinese style building with single storey alang-alang (traditional Balinese) roof and a balcony facing the garden. As the size is smaller, it is fitted with a double bed and a beautiful, very unique, semi-open style bathroom with a 'cave' for shower and another cave for toilet; separated from the open style bathtub. This bathroom also serves as a pool shower, therefore it can be accessed from the pool area.
Due to its location, the owner believes air conditioner is not required. So, all bedrooms are NOT air-conditioned.
Pool & Garden
The owner has a heightened sense of art and the pool is the evidence! This style cannot be found at any other villa in Bali! It seems that the guest is invited to swim in a river of a jungle of Bali! The poolside is just like a riverside without a piece of tile. Size of this asymmetrical swimming pool is approx. 11 m x 5 m with maximum depth 3m. It is very natural.
Important Note
Due to its open architecture, the experience of Puri Bayu is NOT suitable for small children or people with physical disabilities. There are two house cats that call Puri Bayu their home. If you have allergic, then, we are sorry, this palace can not be your domain. And due to the rainy season, Puri Bayu is NOT recommended for rent on Christmas and New Year.
