Pronunciation:
All syllables receive almost equal stress. In worlds of more than 2 syllables, the second to the last is stressed. All vowels are equally stressed. When the same vowels is repeated consecutively, both are pronounced, separated by a pause, as in maaf (sorry). Vowels are pronounced as in Italian or Spanish. A as in far; E as in way; I as in see; O as in Tokyo; U as in tofu. Consonants are generally pronounced as in English, except for C which always has a ch sound, as in change. When a word ends in T, D or K, that consonant is generally barely audible or silent. R is trilled as in Spanish. F, V, SY, Z and KH are found only in words borrowed from other languages, such as Arabic or English. F is generally as P; V as F; and Z as S. H is sometimes silent, sometimes audible.
